This series is a response to the Iraq Occupation and War. The works incorporate a three-color camouflage palette in current usage by the US military. A body of text in camouflage reflecting contemporary slang, euphemisms and ‘new-speak’ surrounding the conflict, such as: Coalition Of The Willing, Democratic Imperialism, Sabotage Anarchy, Enemy Combatant, Military Adventurism, Armies Of Compassion, Ghost Detainees, and War Of Choice is superimposed on a second camouflage pattern ground. When employing this text, I have chosen the common stencil font also used by the military. Related paintings in the series appropriate the shape of the American flag, replacing the red, white and blue with the umber, tan and olive camouflage palette.
