When time is your subject, one should not be in a hurry. Since the beginning of deliberate art making, mortality has played a role in shaping how and why cultures practice making things. I have been gathering verbal and written references to ‘time’ such as: “TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS”, “ONCE UPON A TIME”, “TIME OF YOUR LIFE”, and “TIME WILL TELL”. Using the ‘Times’ font, I integrate this content into paintings that reflect a style or concern that I am working on during the realization of each particular work, such as: Time Study, 2000, Time and Time Again, 2003, and Big Time (Double Time), 2005. Other gestures included under this standard are also involved in temporal passage and collecting, such as Clippings, 1990-2000, and Untitled (Unstretched), 2004.
